Thank you for considering Northwood for your son’s high school education. Northwood is an academic institution first and foremost, but it is so much more as well. From the very beginning of the founder schools over sixty seven years ago, the school has looked to develop and educate the boys in its care in the fullest sense, and the thousands of old boys who have taken their place in society after they left school bear testimony to the value of the all-round education they received in their formative years. We have inherited a wonderful legacy and excellent facilities, and it is up to the boys and the parents of today and tomorrow to build on them and to develop our future citizens and leaders.
While Northwood has had its fair share of high achievers, it has also had thousands of boys who have participated at a lower level, but no doubt enjoyed the experience just the same. That is the way it should be. We come in all shapes and sizes, and Northwood certainly does not have a “one size fits all” approach to the education of the boys in its care. When boys come in for interviews, they invariably express their willingness and indeed eagerness to get involved in the whole Northwood, and we strongly encourage them and their parents to do so, or it will be the boys themselves who are missing out.
Northwood has much to offer, but we also expect much from our students. If a boy views school merely as a vehicle for obtaining a matric, then Northwood will be wasted on him. We seek learners and parents who will become involved, be supportive, and honour the ethos, traditions and rules of the school.
